Obituary

Richard Ian Sanchez was born on April 2, 2008, in Yuma, Arizona to parents Martin Sanchez (a former U.S.M.C. service member) and Diana Bermudez (a devoted mother and San Luis native). He was the youngest of four children and shared his home and childhood in San Luis, Arizona with siblings Martin 18, Ariel 16, and Aileen 14. Richard liked to spend time with his many cousins locally and with his large extended family in Southern California.
Richard was an intelligent, gentle, and quick-witted young boy who had a love for reading, history, and Legos. Richard, along with his sister Aileen, joined the Young Marine program in April of 2018 where he held the rank of Lance Corporal. He aspired to one day become a U.S. Marine.
Richard was a student at Gowan Science Academy, showed a great interest and aptitude for science and technology, and enjoyed spending time with his friends when school was in session.
Richard passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021 in Yuma Arizona at the young age of 12. Richard is survived by his loving parents, siblings, grand parents, great grandmother, and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that will miss him dearly.
