Obituary

Oscar Corona, aged 66, peacefully passed away on November 11, 2022 at home in Yuma, AZ after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He spent his final moments surrounded by family and friends.

Oscar was born on April 5, 1956 in Calexico, CA to his parents Mike and Rosa Corona. He spent his school years in Arizona and concluded them by graduating from Kofa High School in 1974. He served in the US Army from 1974-1977. Oscar had a long career in the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator and crew foreman for several companies in Yuma County for over forty years before retirement in 2018. He met his future wife Debbie in 1996, whom he married shortly after on November 15, 1997 in Yuma.

Oscar played softball for many years and also coached his daughter's softball teams. He taught many young girls how to play and win many travel tournaments in California and Arizona. Oscar never stopped his support of his family and continued to travel to watch his grandchildren play softball and football all the way up until his passing. He was a mentor to many young people coming into the construction industry and gave them the tools to have long prosperous careers.

Oscar is survived by his wife Debora Corona, three children; Evonne (DeWight) Corona, Robert (Angelic) Stanford and Oscar Miguel Corona, two grandchildren; Kiani and Khalil Byron, mother Rosa V Corona, and siblings; Hector (Rosa) Corona and Rose (Jesse) Yates.

Oscar is preceded in death by his father Mike Corona and brother Ruben Corona.
