Obituary

For our father Michael Segar : With great sadness, our family lost our anchor on January 28, 2022 with the passing of Michael Charles Segar.   He was the first born son of Charles Segar and Agnus Matula Segar, siblings Theresa Lindal, Charles and Leo Segar.

Mike's love of art and lifetime career started when he shared his hobby with a friend. At that time money was tight for most Americans and he could not afford a senior class ring.  Like everything else life threw at Mike, he did not let that stop him.  He looked at life's obstacles as just challenges to conquer.  He borrowed a friends ring and drew an amazingly detailed replica of the ring. Even though he had never been formally educated in any art classes, that drawing caught the attention of local business men.  They took Mike under their program and he learned the art of industrial engraving.  Mike started a successful tool/dye/engraving company.  He would name the company Milco Engravers to include his love for his father Charles and his twin brothers Charlie and Leo.   Some of Mike's art is still comforting people today in the form of religious and spiritual medallions that he cast into metal.

In the 1960's, Mike's love of the water took him on one of many adventures.  He caught an IGFA World Record 232lb Giant Sea Bass on 20lb test fishing line.  Without any hesitation, he donated the entire fish to fed the children in need at Miami Children's hospital.

Mike continued his love of the sea and his yearning for adventure throughout his lifetime. He built numerous boats where he could be found smiling and sailing the eastern United States and the Caribbean.  In his later years, his love of adventure took him to the desert, where up until his passing, he would enjoy riding his ATV and digging for gold with his wife and dog by his side.

Michael is survived by his loving and devoted wife Louise Segar; daughters Shari Ford and Shelley Hughes; grandchildren Eric Grant, Michael Grant, Kaleigh Kenyon and Kristen Saeidi; great grandsons Theo and Charlie Saeidi. Besides being an amazingly loving and thoughtful father, he was the most influential man to shape the lives of his daughters and grandchildren.  His motto of living life "Healthy and Happy" will forever remain etched in our heartheir souls
