Obituary

Mary Frances Cordery, aged 93, passed away on February 8, 2025, in Yuma, AZ. Born on January 24, 1932, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Virgil and Sally Hale, Mary carried the warmth of her Oklahoma roots throughout her life, evident in her smile and distinctive twang. Mary's life was marked by her loving marriage to Don Cordery on March 6, 1954, and the joy of raising their son, Charles. Her career spanned over 40 years as the Executive Director for the Caballeros de Yuma, where she was known for her strong work ethic and dedication to the organization's success. Beyond her professional life, Mary was deeply committed to her family, especially cherishing her role as a grandmother. Her two granddaughters were the light of her world, and she was a constant presence at their activities, offering support and encouragement. Mary was a long-time member of Morningside Southern Baptist Church, where she found spiritual solace and community. Mary had a strong sense of giving back to the community that she lived in. She volunteered countless hours at the Crossroads Mission Thrift Store. She loved the Fair! She could always be found working in the office for the Yuma County Fair during Fair week. She was also a past recipient for Yuma County Citizen of the Year. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Dianne Cordery; granddaughters, Jordan and Megan Cordery; and nieces, Dana and Kay Atkins. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Cordery; son, Charles Cordery; brother, Howard Hale; and sister, Lois Atkins. The family would like to express sincere gratitude and appreciation for Hospice of Yuma, the staff of River Valley Estates and Dominique Montoya of Pearls Angels for all of their continued assistance and support. A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, March 15th, at Morningside Southern Baptist Church, located at 2900 S 8th Avenue, Yuma, AZ. Mary's life will be celebrated and remembered for the love and light she brought into the lives of those around her
