Margarita Orona
Lopez
May 9, 1948 — Feb 6, 2024
Wellton
Margarita Orona Lopez, 75, of Wellton, AZ, was born in Bakersfield, CA, preceded in death by her parents Felix Orona and Manuela Cota Orona. Margie unexpectedly lost her life, alongside her eldest son, on Tuesday 2/6/2024. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gilberto Lopez, Sr., her children: Nancy Lopez, Ezequiel (Dana) Lopez, Cheri (Dave) Ciresi, Eloisa Lopez (Jayson Weaver), 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, her brother, sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. She had active roles in the workers rights, both marching and in a clerical capacity under the infamous "La Causa" movement alongside Cesar Chavez. She spent her later years expressing her artistic creativity crafting, drawing and enriching the walls of the house many would come to call "home". Known reputably as "Nana", her home became the preservation of generational values, traditions and cultural practices, those of which influenced not only her own family but those within her community.
