Luis O. Sanchez, 90, of Yuma, AZ passed away peacefully on December 5th, 2023, surrounded by his family. Luis was born in Michoacan Mexico to Jose Maria Orejel and Virginia Sanchez and was the oldest of eight children. Luis worked for a ditch lining company decades ago and when the company closed, he left with a backhoe and a small amount of money. From there, Luis was determined to open his own ditch lining company and opened Valley Construction which later became Valley Concrete Linings, Inc. Luis had a strong work ethic working day in and day out, weekends and holidays to repair or construct irrigation canals for Yuma's local farmers. He loved what he did, and it brought him happiness to be able to help the agricultural community. After many years of providing service, in August 2019, Luis received the Distinguished Service to Agriculture Award; an award he was proud of. Luis leaves behind his wife, Maria G. Sanchez, and four daughters: Lisa Sanchez, Maricela Sanchez, Mariza Sanchez and Carmen Guzman (Fernando Guzman) as well as 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
