Jose O.
Garcia
Jul 26, 1953 — Jul 1, 2023
Somerton
Jose O. Garcia, 69, passed away on July 1st, 2023, in Somerton, Arizona. He was born July 26th, 1953, in Nayarit, Mexico.
Jose moved to the United States as a teenager and grew up in Somerton where he met the love of his life Pearl. Growing up he was a part of the wrestling team at Woodard Jr. High where he would victoriously attend the state championship, but his real passion was baseball, from an early age playing in leagues in San Luis. After graduating from Woodard Jr. High Jose began working in the agricultural industry to help his parents and after 32 years, he moved on to being a welder at Gilpin's Construction Co., Inc. and after 22 years as a welder he later retired from Pacific Steel Inc.
Jose or Joe, as many knew him, was known for his love of family. Whether it was coaching his children's baseball teams, cooking his famous disco chicken, watching the Diamondbacks game with his dog Mugsy, or listening to music, his joy was having his family around with a Budweiser in hand. His friends and family can all attest to his quiet and caring nature and humbleness. The amount of lives Jose touched was immeasurable and the memories of him are deeply rooted in his family, his children, and his friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Pearl Garcia; his mother Maria De La Cruz Garcia; children, Pearl (Billy) Hamner, Cathy (Olegario) Zazueta, Jose Garcia Jr., Gabriel (Candice) Garcia, and Angie Garcia; sisters, Graciela Jimenez, Elida Aguirre, Lidia Blackthunder, and Monica Garcia; brother, Hugo Garcia; Grandchildren, Trevor Hamner, Josyiah Garcia, Daniel Zazueta, Veronica Zazueta, Isabella Zazueta, Gabriel Garcia Jr., Shayla Ford, and Ariannah Garcia.
