Jose "George"
J. Peynado
Feb 22, 1946 — Apr 11, 2021
Yuma
Jose Jorge Peynado, "George", 75, passed away on April 11, 2021 while surrounded by his loving family. George was born in Yuma, AZ on February 22, 1946 to Jose Leodigario and Gloria Peynado.
While being one of the oldest of 11 children, George left his schooling early to go to work to help support his large family. While school was important, George felt a strong responsibility to help. George met the love of his life, Helen "Blackie" through his sister, Rosie, at a downtown dance at the age of 16. The chemistry these two had on the dance floor was amazing. People would stop to watch them. George and Blackie married on February 25, 1967. They then went on to have 3 sons, who were their pride and joy.
George started working for the City of Yuma in the sanitation department in 1967. He took pride in his work and thoroughly enjoyed his time there. George developed many close friendships during his years at the City and was nicknamed "Parna" by many. He retired after 37 years. George had an immense love for the Picacho desert and the outdoors. He and his sons went on night rides regularly, as well as many camping trips with the entire family. He loved hunting trips with his friends and his sons. In his later years, he learned to appreciate fishing and did this often with his grandchildren.
George is survived by his 3 sons, George Jr (Mari) Peynado, Richard (Blanca) Peynado, and Chris (Dre) Peynado. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, 7 sisters and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen "Blackie" Peynado and his parents Jose and Gloria Peynado. Our hearts are at peace knowing that he is reunited and dancing again with his love.
