John Christopher Cross
January 18, 1944 – February 17, 2023
John Christopher Cross, age 79, passed away February 17 th in Yuma AZ. John was my beloved brother and was one of the nicest, most sincere people I have ever known. A devout Christian John always practiced what he preached. He shared whatever he had with anyone he felt could use a bit of help.
When John lived in Florida, he was given an award for the carpentry he performed for many Hurricane Andrew victims. When living at the Redbird Mission in Kentucky, he used some of his many talents to carve and well small red Cardinal bird bookmarks to raise money to donate to the mission.
Wherever John lived, it was very important to him to do his best to help those in need and to share his deep Christian faith. John Cross was a blessing to all who knew him, and if John knew you, you were included in his prayers.
I miss my dear brother and wanted to share a bit about him due to the deep respect I hold for him and his beliefs. It is always refreshing to meet someone like John who is truly authentic in beliefs and conduct. It will be challenging for me and my family not to receive the sweet phone calls John would share with us.
But John was ready to go home and be wrapped in the arms of his Lord and Savior. That was John's devout wish, and now his wish is fulfilled.

For the past number of years John made his home at the San Carlos Hotel in Yuma. He could often be found on Main Street visiting with locals and travelers, reaching out to all who would listen to him proclaim Jesus as Lord. As a silent witness, John wore a variety of caps declaring the message. He had a heart for the homeless and was an advisor for A Brighter Day Ministries (a Christian outreach to the homeless). John was an instrumental part of the ministry since its inception.
A celebration of John's life was held on Sunday afternoon, March 12 th at Grace Bible Fellowship in Yuma.
