Lagunas

James Andrew Lagunas was born on December 19, 1974 and left this world a hero on March 1, 2024.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Leeanne Lagunas; mom and dad, Robert and Anna Lagunas; sisters, Jana Lagunas, Roberta Ruiz and Stacy Lagunas; sisters-in-law, Stacey Mesa, Tricia Long and Courtney Long; brothers-in-law, Michael Mesa, Albert Ruiz and Alex Ruvalcaba; mother and father-in-law, Richard and Cheryl Long. He leaves behind nieces and nephews that all adore their Nino, Tio and Uncle. Nieces; Audra Mesa, Ayanna Lagunas and Kyleigh Garwood; Nephews; Braxton and Jaxon Lagunas, Dylan Mays; Great-nephew; Isaias Rodriguez; Great-nieces; Aunie and Leianna Rodriguez. He also leaves behind a large extended family of uncles, aunts and cousins and friends that were family to him.
James was a reserved, loving and loyal man that had the most amazing dimples when he smiled. Everybody that came into contact with him, loved him. He loved to laugh and joke around with everyone. He would make you work to earn his trust, but once you did then there wasn't anything that he wouldn't do for you. He was a great listener and never, ever judged what you were sharing with him. He could teach himself how to do anything. He taught himself how to screen print, embroider and build any project that Leeanne would dream up. James was an extremely hard worker and took pride in everything that he did. He was proud to be the Director of Facilities for Yuma School District One, the very school district that he attended as a child.
James was a talented softball player and he spent many years at the softball fields with his dad. The team they built together was called "Kongs" and he absolutely loved playing on that team. Playing softball with his dad, Tio Larry and friends that became family gave him so much happiness. The connections that he made out on the softball field were countless and the friendships were treasured by him. The laughs, jokes and harassment were never ending with the team and he loved it! After retiring from softball, he started playing golf with his buddies. The bat collection switched to clubs and the search for the best putter was on.
James had an amazing life with his wife, Leeanne. Not many people meet the love of their life at the age of sixteen but he did. His love and protection of Leeanne was endless and steady. They loved to travel, explore new places and just live life to the fullest. They had a blast at concerts, ballgames and even a few Broadway shows. They had their share of challenges in life but together they could get through anything. Family was the centerpiece of their life. James was a protective and loving brother and a very devoted son. Being an uncle, was one of the greatest blessings of his life and he had so much fun with his nieces and nephews. They were all very special to him.

I Am Always With You
As you hold me close in memory,
even though we are apart,
my spirit will live on
in the haven of your heart.
I am with you always.
When you lean on trusted friends
and their caring hugs enfold you,
within their loving arms
I will also hold you.
I am with you always.
In nature's consolations—
a sunrise veiled in mist,
with butterflies alighting
on each flower to be kissed.
I am with you always.
And beyond that far horizon
when we'll finally be together,
where love will be eternal
and life will last forever.
I am with you always
