Obituary

Harley Sell, a beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 12, 2024. Born on  October 21, 1930, in Weeping Water, Nebraska, Harley leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine, and his children William (Yvonne), Thomas (Stephenie), Rachel, Ray (Debbie), and Julia. He is also survived by his cherished stepchildren Shelley (Dave), Lana (Colin), Brenda (Steve), Bob, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

During high school, Harley learned the value of hard work as a picker of apple crops in Washington state. However, his entire professional career was spent in the lumber industry, where he served as a Regional Logging Manager for Boise Cascade. His passion for the outdoors was evident in his early years, when he enjoyed 4-wheeling and hunting. He also dedicated time to his community by serving on the City Council in Goldendale, Washington.

In his later years, Harley embraced a long and fulfilling retirement. He found joy in golfing, taking trips to Hawaii, and appreciating the simple pleasures in life. He loved watching "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy," listening to the timeless music of Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash and enjoying a bowl of soup (even on 100F+ days).

Per Harley's wishes, there will be no service and his ashes will be spread in some of his favorite places. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to The Hansen House and/or Pancreatic Cancer research in his memory. A special thank-you to The Hansen House, a hospice comfort care home in Yuma, for making his final days comfortable and peaceful.

Harley's warmth, love, and quiet joy for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
