Obituary

Gloria Marcela Sheridan, 92, passed away on July 28, 2019.

Born at Ft. Yuma, on January 10,1927, Gloria was the youngest daughter of Clara and Ramon Higuera, residents of Imperial County.

She came to Yuma as a child and that's where she met her husband Salvador Sheridan. They married in 1945, and in 1946, 1949, and 1950 had daughters Gloria Jeanne, Melba Barbara, and Melissa Anne.

Life in Yuma was full of family, and friends who are family. Gloria & Sal's Ninth Ave home was a constant gathering place filled with food, music, and laughter. It was also a safe place for anyone who needed it. Likewise, the friendships she made before retiring from APS were ones that Gloria cherished.

Gloria now joins her beloved Sal in God's Kingdom, dancing to the sweet sounds of their favorite music. She was also preceded in death by her parents Clara and Ramon, sisters Esperanza Yañez and Trinidad Thurman; and brothers Ramon Higuera Jr., Charles Higuera, Gilbert Higuera, and Edward Higuera.

She is survived by her brother Joseph Higuera, her daughters Gloria Tester, Melba Wagner, and Melissa Sheridan; grandchildren Tell Wagner, Magen Reed, Pilar Schank, Rebecca Tokos, and Melissa-Anne Wagner. She was also a Nana to 12 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Gloria and Sal were also blessed to be Godparents to many.

Rosary and Mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 23 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where the Sheridan family were founding members and served faithfully for many years. Graveside services will immediately follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

Gloria was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Women's Auxiliary and served the local community through the organization. To honor that commitment the family will host a reception at the Eagles Clubhouse at 12:30 p.m., 225 S. 1st Avenue, Yuma.
