Formerio "Meyo"
Rodriguez
Sep 25, 1945 — Oct 8, 2023
Yuma
Formerio Meyo Rodriguez, age 78, of Yuma, Arizona passed away peacefully in his home on Oct. 8, 2023 in Yuma, Arizona surrounded by his wife, their four children and grandchildren. He unexpectedly succumbed to a catastrophic stroke which occurred on September 29, 2023. He was born September 25, 1945 in San Gregorio de Bosos, Durango, Mexico to the late Antonio and Fernanda (Sanchez) Rodriguez.
During his youth, he spent the majority of his time harvesting his father's land and he often reminisced about his adventures of having grown corn, tomato, and tobacco among many other types of crops. As fate would have it, at the age of 14, like many other young men who sought better opportunities, Formerio ventured north and kept moving forward. A man of many talents, throughout his life he ventured into various industries: mining, railroad and agriculture before he became a self-employed entrepreneur: restaurateur and real estate.
A proud Yuma County resident for over five decades, he leaves behind his wife, Celida Rodriguez; their four children, Manuel (Natalie), Rafael (Blanca), Brenda (David) and Sandy Isela; grandchildren, Hans (Lupita), Hank, Melanie, Vonnie, Alanie, Sebastian, Brandon, Bryan and Daphne.
Furthermore, from his first marriage, he leaves behind his daughter ,Lesha (Edwin) and son Michael Rodriguez.
Formerio was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Adrian Rodriguez, Manuel Rodriguez; sister, Elena Reyes. In addition, he will reunite with his beloved chocolate dachshund, Obi, who comically safeguarded him against all forces who dared get near them.
The family sends special thank you to his loyal friends, Jose Luis Mendez, Rogelio Rosas, Moises Nunez, and Queta Martinez for their unwavering support and dedication to our beloved father over so MANY years.
