Obituary

Elias Ruiz Jaime, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on April 21st, 2024, in Yuma, Arizona. Born to Amelia Ruiz and Bibiano Jaime on November 9th, 1941, Elias worked in the agriculture industry, mainly growing Medjool dates, and left a legacy deeply interwoven with the community he loved.

Elias' early years were shared with his siblings, Adelina, Ignacio, Amelia, Felipe, Bibiano, Maria and Bertha, creating a tapestry of memories filled with laughter and camaraderie. Professionally, Elias was a cornerstone in the date farming, in the Yuma area. His vision and dedication are evident in the healthy growth of the many groves he tended with passion. In that, his expertise guided the growth and maintenance of many dozens of groves we see around us in this area.  It is comforting to know these groves will remain with vitality for many more years to come, enriching the landscape, benefiting the community.

‍In 1968, Elias married his sweetheart, Hilda Luz Jimenez, in a ceremony that remains a cherished memory. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and the joyous hustle and bustle of raising their children: Sergio, Victor (Paria) and Bibiano.

‍Elias' legacy is also carried on by his adored grandchildren: Kayla, Sydney, Ian, Kylee and Korey.  Each of them will remember their grandfather for his sense of humor, artistic talent, boundless energy, and fun tractor rides.  He was blessed to know all of his five great grandchildren, who knew him as "Super Tata," Xavier, Elena, Jedidiah, Evelyn and Ibrahim.

‍Elias was a man of integrity and strong faith, an ethical and hard worker, and a beacon of love for his family, and friends. His legacy will continue to inspire, and his memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
