Dorothy Gail
Beeler
Apr 25, 1938 — Feb 27, 2021
Yuma
We cherish our memories of Gail Beeler, wife of Paul Beeler, and mother of Bob (Jennifer) Beeler, Albert (Chet) Beeler, Jacque Lyn (Curtis) Cloud, Alma (James) Beeler, and Mark (Kim) Beeler. She was a grandmother of twelve and great-grandmother of ten. She died on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at her home, where her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren visited in the days prior to her passing. She is also survived by her sisters Karen Beeler and Joni Fisher. Gail was predeceased by her son, Tyke, and her parents, J.R. and Dorothy Beeson.
We love how she brightened our lives. Her wisdom and kindness will be remembered by those who sought her counsel. As her son Albert said, she was "a great mother, a strong woman, and an advocate for those in need."
As part of her professional career as a real estate broker, Gail was Public Relations Chairman of the Arizona Association of Realtors and the Yuma Board of Realtors. She served Yuma as a member of the City Council (1970-1975) and acted as Deputy Mayor (1974-1975). She was on the Board of Directors of the Yuma County Housing Development Corporation and the Yuma Guidance Clinic (1970-1977) and held committee positions on the Yuma County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Planning Committee, the Yuma County Hospital Rate Review Committee, and the County Air Pollution Committee. She was on the Executive Committee of the Arizona League of Cities and Towns.
Gail was honored by the Yuma County Democratic Party and the "Diamonds in Denim" event. She was recognized by the Yuma County Democratic Women (1969), the Women in Public Office (1974), and The World's Who's Who of Women (1977).
Her community club activities included President of the Yuma Pilot Club and delegate to the Pilot International Convention, officer in the Sunrise Opti-Mrs. Club, and 4-H Club Leader. She was an elder in the First United Presbyterian Church where she and Paul were married in 1958. She was also an active participant in the family-owned businesses.
Gail enjoyed sewing, decorating, gardening, and travel. Friends and family members will remember annual Christmas parties, family camping trips to San Diego, their road trips to explore Beeler roots in Pennsylvania and Tennessee, and their cruises to Mexico, Alaska, Jamaica, and Panama. Their granddaughter, Samantha, accompanied them on their last cruise in 2013 which took them to northern European ports.
These words written by John O'Donough are offered to friends and family members who will never forget the part that Gail played in their lives:
Though we cannot see you with outward eyes,
We know our soul's gaze is upon your face,
Smiling back at us from within everything
To which we bring our best refinement.
May you continue to inspire us:
To enter each day with a generous heart.
To serve the call of courage and love
Until we see your beautiful face again
In that land where there is no more separation,
Where all tears will be wiped from our mind,
And where we will never lose you again.
