Dennis Eugene Heldt was born on May 5, 1948 in Boise, ID to George Heldt and Virginia (Sonneman) Heldt.  He married Jerrel (Buford) Franco on April 29, 1988 in El Paso, TX.

Dennis grew up in Eugene, OR and was a Trainman for Union Pacific Railroad for over 40 years.  He enjoyed good friends, good laughs, golf and fishing.  He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Sons of the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Survivors include his brother Thomas of Cottage Grove, OR, his niece, Treena Heldt and her two children, his two stepsons, Stacy and Sean Franco in California and four grandchildren.  Dennis' parents, two brothers and his wife preceded him in death.
