Obituary

Carol MacBryde, 82, of Yuma, AZ, passed peacefully on Friday, August 30, 2024 at home surrounded by her children.

She is survived by her children: David MacBryde of Santa Cruz, CA , Michael MacBryde and his wife Nora of Danville, CA; Patricia Powers and her husband Eric of Yuma, AZ. She leaves three granddaughters Catherine, Emily and Sarah, whom she absolutely adored, as well as many cousins, nephews, in-laws, and friends from all over the country whom she cared about very much. She is predeceased by her mother, Caroline Uremko (née McCauley), her father, Paul Uremko, and her beloved sister, Barbara Christy.

Carol was born in Hartford on December 10, 1941 and grew up in West Hartford, CT where she attended Hall High School. She lived for many years and raised a family in Manchester, CT; and spent her last years on an adventure to the West Coast, living in California and Arizona. Carol found happiness and peace in the simple things in life: feeding and reading about birds; watching Patriot's games with her eldest son and grandchildren; reading a good book; or sitting on the porch with her daughter, talking and drinking instant coffee. She will be remembered as loyal and loving mother (raising her children brought her true joy), sister, grandmother, and aunt, who cultivated friendships wherever she went, including several lifelong friendships that lasted well over 50 years. When her children were growing up, she was everyone's favorite "neighborhood mom." In every place she lived, she made friends with all her neighbors. She was also an avid lover of cards,
board games, trivia contests, and jigsaw puzzles. Back in the day, she loved to dance waltzes and the polka and was a duckpin bowling whiz. She had an old-school keen wit and possessed a real knack for connecting with people. A private service was held in memory and honor of her life.
