Brenda B.
Barnett
Jul 2, 1943 — Nov 19, 2022
Yuma
Brenda Belen Barnett was born July 22, 1943 to Samuel and Josefina Molina in Yuma, AZ. She passed away peacefully on November 19, 2022 at her home at Maxi's Loving Place
She attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School and graduated from Yuma High School in 1961.
Brenda was preceded in death by her father Samuel, mother Josefina, brother Samuel, and sisters Beatrice and Bertha, and her husband Tom Barnett
She started working at the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Service in 1961. Where she worked for 22 years. She developed strong relationships and truly loved the people she worked with. She frequently shared fond memories of Don, Vicki, Barry, and Karen. Brenda was a dedicated hard worker, but her priority was always her family and friends.
She married Ronald Matthews, Sr. in 1964 and had a son and daughter, sharing many memories over 18 years marriage. They lived in Yuma most of their marriage with short stay in New Mexico. She found love again on a blind date with Tommy Lee Barnett. They married March 1993 for 25 years until he passed. They enjoyed being the central hub for the family. Everyone looked forward to their annual Easter Egg hunt. We are so grateful for the loving care and compassion Tom always showed Brenda.
Brenda was always willing to help everyone continually putting the needs of others ahead of her own. Her caring heart and home were always a safe haven to so many people over the years. Her door was always open to all. She loved spending time with her family. She found the greatest joy in being a grandmother. Brenda absolutely loved to dance. If there was music playing, she did not hesitate to grab a dancing partner or dance by herself. She was quite the seamstress, making clothes for everyone. For many years she had her own personal UPS driver for all of her QVC deals she just had to have.
Brenda is survived by her son Ron (Danette) Matthews and daughter Jennifer (Mike) Stanton, grandsons Brandon Headington, Drake Gomez, Blake Matthews, and Michael and Johnathan Stanton, granddaughter Cassidy Stanton, and 4 great grandchildren. Step Children Joy (Chris)Denning, Marcia Johnson, and Sammy (Allison) Barnett, grandchildren Tiffany, Alyssa, and Jordan Barnett, Christopher and Matthew Denning, Nathan and Joshua Johnson, and 5 great grandchildren.
